This EU funded programme is an important initiative to support the increased competiteveness of the regions in Serbia. Firstly to  help generarate sustainable employment and to develop the capacity for the regional development of Serbia, aligned to European Best practices.

The objectives of the EU-funded
programmes are:

  • To support good governance, institution building and the rule of law,
  • To continue supporting the development of a market economy and to invest further in physical infrastructure and environmental actions and
  • To support social development and the strengthening of civil society.

The EU now provides focussed pre-accession financial aid to the Serbia as a
potential candidate country to EU membership. This financial assistance is
intended to help Serbia to introduce the necessary political, economic and institutional reforms in line with EU.

Under IPA 2007 programme (Instrumental for Pre-Accession Assistance) all
pre-accession support is within this one single, focussed instrument that
addresses the priorities identified in the European and Accession Partnerships for each country.
